Project Description

Past Project Experience – Vista Del Sol Minor Subdivision – Montrose, CO

Project Scope and Relevance: This project included the installation of water and sewer for a three (3) lot minor subdivision. The waterline was an 8” C-900 main line that included all valves, fittings and fire hydrants. The water main was extended from an existing 10” main line located in the entrance of the City of Montrose Sunset Mesa Sports Complex in to this subdivision. The sewer consisted of a 3” force main which had to be tied into an existing active sewer force main. Dry utilities (telephone, electric and gas) were also extended to each lot. This was a ninety calendar day contract and all work was completed ahead of schedule. Other than the asphalt patching and fusion all work was completed in house with Skip Huston Construction personnel.

Project Challenges: One of the main challenges on this project was protecting the crew members and the public. The water main was installed on the shoulder of an active road going to the City of Montrose Sunset Mesa Sports Complex. The tie to the existing 10’” watermain was also particularly challenging because all tie work had to be completed in one day. However, the biggest challenge of the tie in was the amount of time it took to drain down the existing main line, due to the distance of the nearest valves from the tie in location

Change Orders: There were no changes orders on the project.

Contract Amount: $126,942.38
